A newspaper clipping featuring a fake job advertisement from the Ministry of Health is circulating on various job-seeker Facebook groups.
How this scam works:
A fictional advertisement claiming that the ministry plans to hire employees in each district of Uganda on a contract basis is circulated on social media platforms mainly Facebook capturing attention of job seekers.
The alleged positions are for; nursing assistants, medical social workers, project assistants, monitoring and evaluation assistants, community coordinators, peer educators, drivers, medical records assistants, and office assistants.
All candidates interested are supposed to send their applications and curriculum vitae (CVs) to a Gmail account – ministryofhealthcareersug@gmail.com.
Meanwhile, the provided contact email, which is a Gmail account, shows that this is a scam since most government institutions use email addresses that end with their website domain name, such as @health.go.ug and not @gmail.com.
How to avoid such a scam:
– Always verify job openings on the official Ministry of Health website or authorized channels
– Never pay for job applications or interviews
– Be cautious of unsolicited emails or calls with job offers
– Do not share personal information or send money to unverified sources
– Research the recruiter or organization thoroughly
– Report suspicious cases to the authorities
